In our last week at high school before spring break (and my last week of student teaching) we did light drawings, by taking very long time exposures in the dark and moving around and occasionally popping camera flash to capture a person in more than one place at a time. The first picture below was my version of light drawing but it didn't come out like I wanted. Carole popped the flash twice instead of just once like I wanted so that only my baring yellow teeth would show up and then my full portrait in the background. The second picture below is a slightly photoshopped version which is the way I wanted it to look in my head. I think it would have worked with only one pop of the flash.

Student teaching: Dada photomontage with 5th graders

I taught my fifth grade students about the Dadaists and their photomontage work. They started the photomontages the week before and this week finished them up by adding their own Dadaist poems and titles. You can see more elementary school art at thehoustonsocial.blogspot.com

New Photos (with disclaimer)

This blog is supposed to be for posting brand new pictures that I have taken in the past week or so before being posted, but I have been so busy with my student teaching that I haven't taken much sine the New Year's Eve party. I want to post something and these are two images that I took last November that I wanted to post but forgot.
