This weekend we went to Washington D.C. to meet up with my parents and meet an artist I've long admired and tried to emulate: William Christenberry. Mr. Christenberry met my parents when he had a show in Savannah and told them that if they were ever in D.C. to look him up and see his studio. He kindly entertained us for nearly two hours while he showed us his work and told stories. In this photo he was talking about one of the many signs that he has saved over the years from rural Alabama. It is the half circle, perforated tin sign and it says: "WHEN THINGS HAPPEN TO YOU THINK OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO SOMEONE"
